Today's Agenda:

1. In the poem, “The Rose That Grew from Concrete,” Tupac Shakur uses the image of a rose growing from concrete to explain his ability to be resilient in the face of difficult circumstances. (Resiliency is the ability to overcome challenges and bounce back.) 

• Create an image or write a poem (e.g., modeled on Tupac’s poem, a pantoum, a haiku, an “I Am” poem, etc.) that represents an obstacle you face and shows how you are able to be resilient when facing that obstacle. 

• Write one paragraph that explains your image or poem. Make sure to support your explanation with evidence from your text.  Be prepared to share your image or poem with a partner.
